DEMOLITION WORKS OF BATU TIGA & SUNGAI RASAU TOLL PLAZAS HAVE COMMENCED

Demolition works of the Batu Tiga and Sungai Rasau Toll Plaza physical structures have commenced as scheduled and are expected to be fully completed by the end of March.

PLUS Managing Director, Datuk Azman Ismail said, “In accordance to the approved work schedule, the demolition works will be carried out in stages.”

According to Azman, as road diversion is currently being carried out, machineries are also being transferred to both sites. Traffic management and lane closures at the Batu Tiga Toll Plaza have commenced on 20 February and at the Sungai Rasau Toll Plaza today as scheduled.

“Initial works such as removal of toll equipment, signages and other assets have been conducted and completed between 22 January and 8 February,” he added.

Generally, demolition works of the Batu Tiga and Sungai Rasau Toll Plazas will be carried out in phases as follows:-

At the same time, drivers are reminded to slow down and drive carefully when approaching both toll plazas.

“There are plenty and adequate warning signages installed on both sites such as speed limit signages, no overtaking reminders, diversion and so on to alert the 150,000 daily highway users as they approach the toll plazas,” Azman explained.

PLUS had also installed traffic cones with reflective stickers to indicate lane positions at both toll plazas.

“The existing street lights (high masts) are also lighted up at night to improve safety and visibility,” Azman added.

PLUS views safety of all highway users and demolition workers seriously.

KERJA-KERJA PEROBOHAN PLAZA TOL BATU TIGA & SUNGAI RASAU TELAH BERMULA

Semua kerja-kerja perobohan struktur fizikal Plaza Tol Batu Tiga dan Sungai Rasau telah bermula dan dijangka selesai sepenuhnya penghujung Mac yang akan datang.

Pengarah Urusan PLUS, Datuk Azman Ismail berkata, “Kerja-kerja perobohan tersebut akan dilaksanakan secara berperingkat mengikut jadual kerja yang diluluskan.”

Menurut Azman, pada ketika ini, PLUS telah membuat persiapan kerja pelencongan jalan serta proses membawa masuk peralatan di lokasi perobohan. Kerja-kerja pengurusan trafik dan penutupan lorong di Plaza Tol Batu Tiga telah bermula semalam, 20 Februari, manakala bagi Plaza Tol Sungai Rasau akan bermula pada malam ini, 21 Februari sepertimana yang dijadualkan.

“Kerja-kerja awalan seperti pemindahan peralatan tol, papantanda serta aset-aset lain telah bermula 22 Januari lalu dan tamat pada 8 Februari,” katanya.

Secara amnya, kerja-kerja perobohan Plaza Tol Batu Tiga dan Sungai Rasau perlu melalui beberapa fasa iaitu:

Pada masa yang sama, PLUS menasihatkan semua pemandu yang melalui kedua-dua plaza tol tersebut supaya lebih berhati-hati dan memperlahankan kenderaan mereka.

“Terdapat banyak papantanda amaran disediakan di lokasi terutamanya melibatkan papantanda amaran seperti had kelajuan kenderaan, dilarang memotong, lencongan di hadapan dan sebagainya untuk memberi peringatan kepada kira-kira 150,000 pemandu yang melalui kawasan terbabit setiap hari,” jelas Azman.

Selain daripada itu, PLUS turut meletakkan kon-kon keselamatan berpelekat pemantul cahaya di lokasi untuk membolehkan pemandu mengetahui kedudukan lorong.

“Lampu-lampu jalan (highmast) turut dinyalakan pada waktu malam untuk membantu orang ramai,” katanya.

Pihak PLUS sentiasa prihatin atas keselamatan pengguna jalan raya dan juga pekerja kontraktor perobohan semasa kerja perobohan ini di jalankan.
